One Greater Manchester side boasts an amateur veterans team with 9 former top-flight players in their present squad.

Two Hundred Twenty-Two Premier League Goals, 325 International Appearances

Wythenshawe Veterans Over 35s are located in southern Manchester and compete in the Cheshire-based Veterans League Premier Division.

The lineup this season boasts 9 ex- Premier League players, with a collective over 1,800 elite games.

The high-profile squad also boasts over 220 Premier League goals and 325 global appearances.

They include Papiss Cisse, who scored thirty-seven scores in over 100 games for his former club after signing for them for nine million pounds from German league club Freiburg in January 2012.

He made his debut for the team in their last home game against reigning title holders Collegiate Old Boys and scored every one of the six goals in a six-two victory - including a 32-minute first-half hat-trick.

The roster for this campaign also includes ex- professionals such as English and Liverpool striker Emile Heskey, Hull and Burnley midfielder George Boyd, Everton striker Oumar Niasse, Wigan Athletic full-back Maynor Figueroa, City pair Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha and Premier League championship victors Joleon Lescott and Danny Drinkwater.

Collectively, the former Premier League footballers have won 15 major trophies and transferred for combined transfer fees of around £123m.

Famous Figures and International Stars

Ireland began turning out for the team during preseason this season through close friend and present team player Blake Norton, and the ex- Irish midfielder then asked other ex-pros, who all play in a weekly nine-a-side game, to join in.

Former Senegal striker Oumar Niasse, who netted 12 goals in 65 top-flight games for the Toffees and even now goes to their matches at Goodison Park, also made his debut versus Collegiate OB - who are based in the city and use an Blue training kit as their uniform.

"My friend Stephen told me 'join and have a game, it's good fun'," said Niasse.

"Then he informed me we were facing a side from the city and the shock I had when I noticed them sporting Everton kits - I say this is strange for me!

"When you still enjoy football and you know you can still do it, wherever you can kick a ball, what are you going to choose?

"The fans who come and watch are pleased and to make someone's day if they watch us playing there and to pose us queries - it's really about the joy of us getting a place we can enjoy football, with organisation of course."

Such is the bench strength at the club, Niasse made his first game at full-back.

"It's a little unusual but then, I love running and just go forward - I'm not defending that much," he added.

"I tell my defender 'I'm not staying' and that I'm just going to keep attacking.

"That movement is what I'm looking for. It's good fun."

Unreal Feeling

Along with Cisse's six goals on his first game, Ireland has scored 8 in three games for Wythenshawe, while George Boyd hit 5 on his debut match and Joleon Lescott, a defender by position, scored a triple in one match as a striker.

Wythenshawe are leading of the Top Division with three victories from 3 and a GD of +19.

One opponent, 38, who plays on the wing for Collegiate OB, faced former Wigan defender Maynor Figueroa on Sunday - and had to explain his young son who Emile Heskey was.

He has appeared at two World Cups for Honduras, in as well as playing in more than 200 top-flight matches.

"It was spreading like wildfire they had all these ex-Premier League stars," said Barrow.

"I felt I was a little awestruck facing Figueroa to be honest.

"Also Heskey got on and he's has 60-odd England caps.

"We competed well for a solid 20 minutes but then we had a man sent off and it was hard.

"Our group really haven't stopped chatting about it - I was phoning my mum and brother on the way home.

"The opponents were all dead sound, shaking our hands after the game - it was like facing a bunch of normal guys.

"Now we can't wait for the return fixture."

We Will Still Win the Title'

Andy Kirby manages the Collegiate veterans team, who won the Premier Division championship the previous campaign, along with Paul Maguire.

"Our team went one-nil up and had a
